Ellie Brooks has spent the past two years of her life building barriers around herself that are guaranteed to keep people out and her demons in. She doesn't want to get close to anyone for fear of being hurt again. When she meets Latin superstar Victor Garza, she is shocked at how quickly he is able to penetrate her armor. She doesn't want to let him in but can't deny the chemistry they have. He has the potential to heal her wounds and open her heart but she isn't sure she can let him. Will love be enough to keep them together or will Ellie's past prove to be too much for the pair to overcome?Translation of Love is a good, sweet romance, but it is also the story of a woman finding herself again. There was a lot more to the story than I thought starting out, and I didn't understand the way that Ellie acted the way she did until close to the end.
Ellie and Victor's relationship was just so cute! Even though Ellie's instincts were to push Victor away, he just kept persevering to show her how much he cared. I love it when a hero never gives up and fights for love, and Victor certainly does. He proves himself to her time and again, which is just what she needed to let go of the past.
I don't want to give any of the twists away from the book, so I'm not going to go into the plot too much. All you need to know is that it was good, and there was more depth to it than I originally thought. The main thing I didn't really like is that it's written in first person present tense, and that is completely a preference thing for me, but after a little while I didn't even notice.
If you love a sweet, yet sexy, new adult romance, then you'll love this one.
