Troubles and Treats Blog Tour: Guest Post & Giveaway (INT)

We are super excited to have the Awesomely Hilarious Tara Sivec on our blog today!!! She has wrote a really funny guest post on the difficulties of writing with kids and she is also giving away a Signed Paperback copy of Troubles and Treats to one Lucky reader here!

Drew and Jenny have spent years being the envy of their friends with their out of control sex lives - well, not really. Mostly it makes their friends want to throw up in their mouths a little.
With two little kids and two busy lives, for the first time, Drew and Jenny aren't on the same page in the bedroom. Drew will stop at nothing to get his previously amorous wife back in the sack and Jenny will do anything for a full night of sleep.
Carter and Claire, and Jim and Liz are their usual (un)helpful selves and are full of advice for the disconnected duo, wanting nothing more than to help restore order to the usually happy couple's lives.
In the third and final installment of the Chocolate Lovers Series, will Drew and Jenny find the spark that's been missing in their marriage, or will the trouble they're having cause a stickier situation than the time Jenny poured honey all over Drew and he fused himself to a tree.

The difficulties of writing with kids

Oh man, the difficulties of writing with kids are too many to count! The worst is trying to write a sex scene and being interrupted with questions of what’s for dinner. CAN’T YOU SEE I’M TRYING TO WRITE ABOUT HOT, AMAZING SEX??? GET SOME CEREAL FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!

Then there’s a whole other discussion on what sex is and me trying to explain to them that sex is gross and something you should only do when you’re over the age of thirty and with written approval from your parents, doctor and family clergy.

I love my home office. It’s beautiful and I wish I could sleep in here. The only problem is that it’s in the main part of the house and right by the stairway. So my kids are constantly walking through here. And my husband is constantly following behind them saying “Leave your mother alone, she’s trying to write.” And then all three of them stand in the middle of my office arguing about how they weren’t bugging me and that they just wanted to show me something and then there’s screaming and crying and punching and I’m curled up under my desk sucking my thumb. Right now my daughter is practicing to be a slam dancer and the door to the toy room, right off of my office (WHO THE FUCK PLANNED THIS SET-UP???) is being slammed over and over and over. And my husband bought them some stupid Christmas elf microphone where you can sing into it and it changes your voice so it sounds like an elf. So while my daughter is slamming the door repeatedly, she’s singing “Jingle Bells” in a really high pitch, creepy voice. I probably write two sentences in peace and quiet. And then the rest of the chapter is written while I am screaming at the entire house to shut up and yelling at the dog for farting as he walks through to the kitchen. In my next life, I’m going to build an office about six miles down the road from my house and I’m going to be the only one who has a key. I just told my daughter what I was typing and her reply was, “You should write a book about how annoying we are.”

Gee, I really should, shouldn’t I?
