Blurb: Falling in love with her best friend and neighbor was the easy part for Casey Meyers. Keeping the crush a secret… Well, that's getting harder by the day. Especially when he begs her to pretend to be his fiancĂ© for a benefit ball where all the high society matrons are dying to marry him off… as if they lived in freaking Victorian England.

Vampire Nick Christos-Mister might have been born in the Middle Ages, but those days seem tame compared to the last eight years spent ruling the Supernatural Council. The only respite in his long days of governing is with his sweet neighbor Casey. Sure, he's forced to take a cold shower after every encounter, but no way will he risk anything more with a human. Not with his blood thirsty ex on the prowl and out to ruin Nick's life.

But when said crazy ex shows up at the ball and flies her freak flag high, Nick has more to worry about than keeping his hands off his neighbor. He'll have to stay closer than ever now if he hopes to keep her alive, but will she want to leave him forever when she learns the truth?

What's going on with us:
Finally starting to get some of the titles from NetGalley whittled down, whew *wipes brow* When I first started this blog, I requested several title from NetGalley and got denied for most of them. So I reviewed a couple, then requested about 10 different ones thinking I might get one or two tops. Imagine my surprise when I got almost all of them! So I kind of went crazy on there and got lots of titles, and then realized I was going to have trouble getting them all done with my kids out of school for the summer. So I've been working to get these all read up and requesting very few, and now I've only got a couple left that are close to their deadline! Yay me! Lesson learned: Never request more books than you can reasonably read, you might just get them all lol.
I also wanted to Thank Everyone who stopped by on Friday for the FF!!!

Blurb: The warrior and the wallflower . . .
Shy, self-conscious Evie Douglass tries to stay under the radar, especially when her nemesis Meredith Peterson, aka The Death Starr, is anywhere around. Meredith and her bitch posse of skinny girlfriends have tormented Evie since the seventh grade, calling her names like The Whale and Thunder Thighs.
Evie tries to stay invisible, but that’s not an easy thing for a plus-sized gal to do in a small town like Hannah, Alabama. She finds it doubly hard to avoid Meredith’s wrath once she takes a job at the lumber mill. You see, Meredith’s husband is Evie’s new boss. Translation: more torture time for The Death Starr.
Evie thinks things couldn’t get much worse until the morning she finds Meredith’s bloody body sprawled across her desk. Typical Meredith, she gets herself dead mere days after a very public scene in which Meredith accuses Evie of having an affair with her husband. Worse, the murder weapon is found in Evie’s car.
Suddenly, Evie is the Number One suspect in a sensational murder case. But she’s got bigger problems. Hannah is infested with demons—soul sucking, body snatching creatures of evil—and, for some reason, they want Evie. The only thing standing between Evie and death or possible possession is a hunky blond demon slayer named Ansgar.
Ansgar is a Dalvahni warrior, a supernaturally gorgeous race whose sole purpose is to hunt down and capture rogue demons.
Evie could almost swear that Ansgar is interested in more than demons. He seems interested in her. Ridiculous, of course, because he’s sex on two legs and she’s…
Well, she’s Whaley Douglass.
To add to Evie’s troubles, Meredith doesn’t even have the decency to stay dead. She shows back up as a ghost and she’s more of a beyotch than ever. Meredith has deathnesia—she can’t remember who killed her—leaving Evie to solve the mystery herself, or go to jail for a murder she didn’t commit.
What do you get when you mix a lovable heroine, an irresistible Dalvahni warrior, loads of magic, humorous situations galore, and a town that is a cesspool for demons? Demon Hunting in the Deep South of course! A fast, fun read that will leave you smiling!
The characters in this book were great, they were all so colorful and each one was an individual. Evie is especially hilarious, her inner dialogue had me cracking up more than once. She is just a sweet southern girl, maybe even a little too kind sometimes. She has grown up with a bad self-image, having been teased as being a curvy girl all her life. It was so rewarding to see her grow into a confident and self-assured woman. I could really relate to her and empathize with her, and I guess that is why I loved her.
Ansgar was instrumental in helping Evie to see the beauty & strength in herself. He's a sexy Dalvahni warrior, able to use all kinds of cool magic. I love how he sees Evie as a beautiful and brave woman, even when she doesn't believe it herself.
The supporting characters in this book were also really memorable, Nicole and Muddy, were two of my favorites. Also Sheriff Whitsun & Conall (among others) really caught my interest, and I really hope to see more of them in future books! In short, Lexi George has done an awesome job at writing all of the different characters that were a part of this book.
It was a really enjoyable read, and I found myself smiling and laughing out loud throughout the whole book. While I strongly recommend reading the first book before this one, you could read it as a stand-alone, but I think I would have enjoyed it even more if I'd done so. It was still a good, fun read, and I'm looking forward to more!

Q: Do your reading habits change based on your mood? Do you read a certain genre if you are feeling depressed or happy?
Hmm...I do go through periods of alternating back and forth with genres I like, but if they are based on my moods then I've never noticed. Sometimes I just want something different and will start on a genre I haven't read in a while.

Blurb: Ever since Kait Swanney could remember, the old crones of the village have been warning her to stay away from the selkies. They claim that like sirens of old, the seal men creep from the inky waters, shed their skins, and entice women to their deaths beneath the North Sea. But avoiding an encounter becomes impossible when Kait is spotted at the water’s edge, moments after the murder of a half-selkie infant.
Unexpectedly, Kait is awoken by a beautiful, selkie man seeking revenge. After she declares her innocence, the intruder darts into the night, but not before inadvertently bewitching her with an overpowering lure.
Kait obsesses over a reunion deep beneath the bay and risks her own life to be reunited with her selkie. But when she lands the dangerous lover, the chaos that follows leaves Kait little time to wonder—is it love setting her on fire or has she simply been lured?
Amazing! I loved this book! I have always been interested in mermaids since I was a little girl, and I love all the myths about the siren call and how they were supposed to enchant human males. With this book it's not a mermaid but a selkie, and I liked it even more because it was a male who held the enchantment over the female!
I was completely mesmerized with this book as much as Kait was mesmerized with Eamon! The love that they had for each other was just incredible! At first Kait was happy as long as Eamon was at her side, and Eamon was happy just because he could so easily make Kait happy. But after a while this started to cause  problems.  Eamon started  becoming sick and weak without the sea, but he refused to leave Kait's side, because she would literally go crazy! If he so much as left her for a few minutes she could feel herself start to slowly loose bits of her sanity! So of course they loved each other so deeply that the tables were turned to Kait wanting to make Eamon return to the sea and Eamon determined to stay at Kait's side. Like I said amazing! Absolutely beautiful! It was very touching how they were so willingly to sacrifice themselves as long as it kept the other healthy and happy!

Two quotes that I loved!
"Kait would soon learn that there was nothing I wouldn’t do for her. I had chosen a new loyalty and would mourn the sea." -Eamon
“I’d not have you kill yourself,” I shouted over the water. “Dying is not a gift!” -Kait
So you're probably wondering how in the world they can be together because they are the ultimate star crossed lovers? Well you'll just have to read it and find out for yourself, but I swear you will not be disappointed!

Blurb: Ancient Secrets, Dark Passions...
As one of the Grigori, a noble vampire dynasty shrouded in mystery, Ariane has spent her life hidden away in the desert. Like all of her kind, she is a watcher, fated to observe, forbidden to act. Yet when her best friend, Sammael, vanishes, she defies all rules and flees her safe haven to bring him home.
A shape-shifting assassin for the House of Shadows, Damien Tremaine is hired to locate Sammael. His hunt for the wayward Grigori leads him to Ariane, the rogue vamp who stands between him and his bounty. Damien never lets emotion interfere with his work, but a single touch from the sexy, beguiling vampire shatters his self-control. Drawn together by their common goal, what begins as an alliance of necessity soon becomes one of desire. But when the secret at the dark heart of the Grigori comes to light, Damien and Ariane must make a choice that could bind them eternally...or tear them—and everything they care about—apart.
Wow! I Love this book, definitely a very good read! Kendra Leigh Castle did absolutely everything right in this book. I think I've found another favorite series to read, and the only thing I don't like is having to wait for more to come out! Amazing world building, memorable & likable characters, fantastic romance, and hot bedroom (or should I say graveyard?) scenes! Fantastic read! Before I go completely fan-girl here, I'll try to explain exactly why I loved it (or at least some of the things I loved).
The main characters in this book are Ariane & Damien. Ariane has spent the last several centuries, basically secluded from other vampires and the outside world, in the Grigori compound. Grigori vampires are seen as royalty, and the way she was turned has made her an outsider among them. She has no memory of her life before her change, and the depth of her loneliness is heartbreaking. She has worked harder than her fellow Grigori to train and learn, and is still considered an outcast. I immediately liked her.
Damien is a Cait-Sith, basically vampires that shape-shift into a cat, and he is also a Shade (assassin). The Cait-Sith are certainly not royalty and their race has been looked down upon for some time. His job as a Shade gives him an even worse reputation. I loved that even as broken as Damien is Ariane still sees the good in him, where others just see what they expect from him she sees through it all. The romance throughout the story was great, I really enjoyed seeing their relationship unfold.
The world that Castle has created is so in-depth, but she explains it so well, and does a very good job of adding things in as you go and not dumping too many new things on you at once. The book was so interesting that I powered straight through it in about a day, and was disappointed that it was over. There was even a teaser at the end for the fourth book, and now I'm dying to know what happens in the next book!
Even though it is the third book in the series, I still think you could read it as a stand-alone (I did, but I'll be reading the others ASAP). I love finding a new series to read, one for me is never enough, and I think I've found one I can safely say is my new favorite!
