Warning: Full Speed Ahead

By Avery Flynn

If you came with a warning label, what would it say?

I snarfed coffee all over my laptop screen when I read this question. I just love the idea of a warning label on people.

Imagine if you walked into a crowded restaurant and your waitress wore a label that said: Picks nose before serving you drinks.

How about starting a new job and seeing your boss with a a label that said: Patronizing ass.

What if the guy on the subway with the label: Closet romantic hidden beneath an alpha shell?

So how about me? What would my label say? Full speed ahead. My life is one of constant motion and once we set a course you’d better come along or get out of the way.

This question really got me thinking about the characters from Passion Creek, book three in the Layton Family Series. What kind of warning labels would they have?

Warning: Fun, Feisty and Fearless

A painter with platinum blonde hair and tattoos that tell her story on her skin, Josie Winarsky is not afraid to take on the big dogs and liable to get in way over her head. All she really wants to do is paint, but when she lands smack dab in the middle in a mob plot she has to push aside her dreams to find a treasure  in Dry Creek, Nebraska and save her family from harm.

Warning: Strong and Silent

Uptight history professor Sam Layton may have the abs of a movie action hero, but he stopped believing in the joy of adventure a long time ago. However, when a one-night stand with a tattooed bombshell leads to a treasure map for the long-buried Rebecca’s Bounty, the call to action is too strong to ignore. With Josie by his side and a Vegas loan shark on their tail, the treasure they find turn out to be much more valuable than emeralds and rubies.

So how about you? What kind of warning label would you carry?
