Blurb: She is pretty and talented - sweet sixteen and never been kissed. He is seventeen; gorgeous and on the brink of a bright future. And now they have fallen in love. But... they are brother and sister.

Seventeen-year-old Lochan and sixteen-year-old Maya have always felt more like friends than siblings. Together they have stepped in for their alcoholic, wayward mother to take care of their three younger siblings. As defacto parents to the little ones, Lochan and Maya have had to grow up fast. And the stress of their lives—and the way they understand each other so completely—has also also brought them closer than two siblings would ordinarily be. So close, in fact, that they have fallen in love. Their clandestine romance quickly blooms into deep, desperate love. They know their relationship is wrong and cannot possibly continue. And yet, they cannot stop what feels so incredibly right. As the novel careens toward an explosive and shocking finale, only one thing is certain: a love this devastating has no happy ending.

Ugh! I could not put this book down from start to finish. After reading some reviews on this book before I started it, I thought  it was going to be different, but boy was I wrong!
This book is very depressing and it made me depressed. And still I couldn't put it down. I just had to see how it was going to end. I was determined it was going  to have a good ending, you know where you find out that they really are not brother and sister, but instead it just got worse! By the end I was ready to cry, and scream "No this can not be the end!" So if you're like me and need a happy ending, this book is not for you.

  1. This is a book I've been very on the fence about. I've heard a few people rave about it. But, it's about incest. Which, of course, makes me not want to read it. Is there any sex involved? If so, is it graphic or is it more implied? If it's graphic, then I'll pretty much pass on the book.

I guess the whole thing incest issues reminds me of the Flowers in the Attic series, which was big when I was in high school.

  2. Jess read & reviewed this one, so I have no idea what happens. Just can't get into most books with incest as an issue. I read the Flowers in the Attic Series, and I liked it but that was when I was like 14 or so.
I almost didn't read the mortal instruments series because of the brother/sister issue, but I'm glad I did.

  3. There is only one sex scene and it was more emotional then graphic. Their actually love is actually kinda of beautiful in it's own way. They have never looked at each other as brother and sister but as equals and with them taking care of their siblings all by themselves. It's almost like they are the mom and dad. The book is mostly about them trying to fight their feelings for each other while taking care of their younger siblings. It's a very sad story. I hope this helps. :)
